Live Performance
Brass Band
A second section brass band from the hills North of Bolton.
Founded in the winter of 1850, initially as the Eagley Sunday School Band, attached to the Eagley Mills, a group of textile mills sited to the north of Bolton, Lancashire.
Through economic ups and downs, two World Wars and numerous frayed Musical Directors the band survives to this day - although with a few new members!
In addition to the successes on the contest field, the band are now famed for their achievements in the concert hall, their innovative, challenging and exciting programmes proving increasingly popular with audiences everywhere.
Rehearsals
Monday & Thursday Evenings between 8 and 9:30
at Smithills School.
Bolsover Festival of Brass is one of the leading Brass Band Entertainment Contests of today which for the last three years has produced a live-broadcast around the world to over 25,000 audience as well as its live capacity audience.
The event will commence at 9am running in two halls simultaneously.
There are five sections (Championship, First, Second, Third and Fourth) with 57 competing bands in two halls all performing a twenty minute programme of entertaining music with a featured soloist. The school boasts great facilities for audiences and bands alike. Each band being provided a 30 minute rehearsal room prior to their contest performance.
The event is held all on one level and is very accessible to all.
Catering and bar on site throughout the day and evening.
Tickets are available on the day on the door and are £10 Adult and £8 Concessions (under 16 and over 60). Children under 5 entry free.
