We're a band from Maidstone, who play Funk Rock, regularly playing around Kent and the South East.

Also perform as a function band, playing hits from the 60s to the present day. For different occasions including weddings, private party and good old pubs.

The Paper Castles fuse a variety of different styles in original music to create a unique sound. Gelling funk-injected bass lines with dynamic drum beats to create energetic, memorable melodies whilst maintaining a groove orientated ethos. They also perform as a function band, playing hits from the 60s to the present day. For many different occasions including weddings, private party’s and the good old pubs.

Forming over the summer in 2011 as Inca and then changing line up and later name in the summer of 2013. They have added members along the way and as of 2016 are Luke (Vocals/Guitar), Charlie (Bass), James (Keys) and Aran (Drums). They have played at many places all over the southeast as they are based in Maidstone. Getting involved in a number of local events including: Switch on the Music, KIJ, Woodstock Club and the Heart of Kent Hospice Fundraiser Festival. Venues that have been performed at include: Market House, The Rafters, Old House at Home (Maidstone), 5 Pointed Star (West Malling), The Ivy (Sheerness), Ye Old Arrow (Rochester), and the Tunbridge Wells Forum.

In addition to an extensive internal and external redecoration of the pub, work will include expanding the roof terrace and altering the floor layout to create more space for customers. We will also be installing a new kitchen in order to provide a delicious fresh food menu, using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.

The drinks menu will be expanded, serving an eclectic range of beers, craft spirits and cocktails alongside fresh coffee.

The pub dates back to the 1800s, and we will be commemorating this fresh start by reinstating its original name the Market House. We will be retaining the pub’s emphasis on live music, however, and look forward to welcoming great talent from the local area.
