Cleobury Mortimer Concert Brass is a band straight out of the ‘Shire’, with their base being the Parish Hall in the sleepy town of Cleobury Mortimer, but don’t let its lethargic origin’s mislead you…

National Finalists 2012, 2016 & 2017.
The band were promoted to third section as of January 2018.

CMCB are also on the lookout for the future, and every evening before the main band rehearse, the kids are let loose on the instruments. They boast success from several local competitions, much of which can be credited to Jack Martin and Katie Griffiths, with Katie sitting on the front row with CMCB.

You can find us practising on Tuesday evenings at Cleobury Mortimer Parish Hall where you more than welcome to join us. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out, you're welcome in the bandroom.

Description

The history of the Parish Hall stretches back well over 100 years.

The hall has a wide range of facilities that make it the ideal venue for a party, celebration, wakes, Christening after parties, exhibitions, award ceremonies or open days. The hall is fully heated, has a large kitchen and fully licensed bar, disabled access, patio area and roadside parking as well as free local car parks in the immediate vicinity. The hall itself is large with a small stage at one end.

The hall is used regularly by several diverse groups, all of which would love to see you come along, try it out and join!

The Parish Hall is proud to be the home of Cleobury Mortimer Concert Brass. The band has been in Cleobury for over 100 years and recently, after a change of name, situated itself in the Parish Hall. The band has enjoyed contesting success lately, claiming first prize at the Wychavon Brass Contest as well as gaining success in the Regional Brass Band Contest, leading to promotion up to the 3rd Section. The band has a thriving youth section that rehearses every Wednesday night 6:15pm - 7:15pm, whilst the main band practices from 7:30pm - 9:30pm on the same night. If you would be interested in playing in the band, whether experienced or a complete beginner, simply turn up to a rehearsal at the Parish Hall.

Flicks in the Sticks - Once a month, the hall turns into a cinema hosting flicks in the sticks, the playing of movie on the big screen via a projector. Refreshments are available on the night. Tickets can be purchased beforehand direct from the management committee (see Contact Us) or on the night. You can find out which movie is playing by looking at the upcoming events section of the website on the home page. Movies start at 7:30pm, one Saturday a month, with a short interval.

Friendship Club - The Friendship Club meet in the hall every Tuesday at 2pm. They are a self funded group of senior citizens who meet up on a weekly basis to play whist, dominoes, cards, and scrabble, and enjoy a cup of tea (supplied by volunteers) and generally chat and enjoy a get together. They also go on trips and outings such as theatre visits, boat trips and river cruises.

Short Mat Bowls - The short matt bowls club meets every Wednesday and Friday, 2pm - 4pm, during the Winter months (September to March). Tea, Coffee and biscuits are provided to all who attend. £1.25 per session, per person.
