The Alchemy Trio

The Caledonia

Description

'The Alchemy Trio' was formed (and is led by) experienced jazz/session drummer Colin George Lamont.
After many years of working as a side man, Colin decided it was about time to form an outfit of my own and try something musically challenging and new.
The idea behind 'The Alchemy Trio' is to cleverly and carefully fuse three equally powerful elements into a very dynamic, versatile and lightning quick unit.
Colin needed to recruit musicians with quick improvisational skills, fresh ideas and extreme dynamic qualities.
The trio (although fairly new) has already proven that within the boundaries of form and structure, can 'shape shift' and literally 'bend' time with the use of polyrhythms, metric modulation and implied time shifts.
They also found the interplay between the three of them really something quite special and rather unique.
This is an outfit certainly not scared to take risks, yet with 100% confidence, musicality and 'huge ears', 'The Alchemy Trio' has yet not to impress audiences and fellow musicians alike.
Playing material from Coltrane to Ellington, the trio is consciously (and unconsciously) carving new and exciting approaches to the 'Jazz standard' by melting together their own individual musical influences and approaches to produce improvisational music in its purest of form.
