Live Performance
Alt. Country / Americana / Rock
"International Award winning Americana, Country, Rock & Blues written from the heart performed from the soul..."
Lexie Green, although born in the UK, has family roots in the USA so it is no surprise that her music should reflect this trans Atlantic connection.
With songs dipping their toes in multiple genres, Lexie Green and her band of friends (The Indigo Blue) are as comfortable performing in a silenced theater of original music loving fans as they are to a full bustling bar on a Saturday night or a summers festival as the sun sets. Chosen by Bob Harris to perform on his BBC introducing stage at the first Long Road Festival and a favourite with venues, promoters and audiences for always bringing a smile and an audience to their dancing feet wherever the perform.
Lexie’s influences are described as Americana, Rock & Roll and Vintage Blues, but, whatever the genre you decide you hear, the songs are always performed with passion and a whole lot of soul.
Mama Lizs boasts a well appointed bar, with an emphasis on quality. Our small selection of regularly changing real ales and American craft beers has won us a gold award from CAMRA followed by the Peterborough and districts, pub of the year award. Specialist, small batch bourbons, gins, tequilas and vodkas nestle amongst the more well known brands and our classic and cutting edge cocktails have set the benchmark for the area.
The bar area hosts a variety of free music and non music related events: weekend dj’s, live music on the Sunday sessions, mid-week open-mic jam nights, quiz nights, poker sessions and even an annual chilli cook-off.
It is a warm and relaxed enviroment frequented by people of all ages and styles, serving food all day and late into the night.
Hidden underneath Mama Lizs in a vaulted Victorian wine cellar is the Voodoo Lounge. An intimate and individual live music, comedy and dj venue decorated with some unique Obey Giant artwork. Specialising in up and coming bands, playing original material from all genres the Voodoo Lounge has gained national acclaim, attracting acts from the USA, Canada, Brazil, and the Europe as well as home grown artists. We work Closely with the local college helping the music students to promote their own events as well as other community work.
There is a wide range of entertainment on offer here, from rock n roll to country, blues and jazz, reggae, punk, funk, folk, heavy metal, indie and rock a billy. And that’s just the live music side, hip hop, drum and bass, dubstep and house music dj’s also run events in the Voodoo Lounge. We have open mic and jam nights, a monthly comedy club, a weekly poker night and weekly boxercise session. We have hosted poetry recitals, art exhibitions and even an award winning play.
On the first floor at Mama Lizs is the hugely popular Cajun/Creole restaurant. The decor and lighting reflects perfectly the New Orleans theme of the venue and the restaurant is equally at home as a place for an intimate dinner for two or for a party.
All dishes are prepared freshly to order, using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. The menu caters for all tastes, whether you favour smooth and creamy or hot and spicy. Our excellent range of vegetarian dishes ensures there is something for everyone.
Booking is recommended as we fill up quickly.
Returning to Mama Lizs back lounge, Lexie Green will be performing once joined by John Wright on lead guitar.
