Live Performance
Soul / Funk
Mamilah began in Leeds in early 2017, along with the commonly misused umbrella term 'Neo-Soul' used to describe the majority of modern R&B and Soul.
An apple fallen far from the tree that brought this genre to life such as our sweet Erykah, just to name one. This sparked the Mamilah flame, a flame that strives to exude a sound that leans more towards traditional Soul. Inspired by artists such as Buena Vista Social Club, Charles Bradley, Nubian Twist and Aretha Franklin, they bring a fresh twist on what it is to be Soul.
Since their inception, they have played in Leeds’ most reputable venues such as Smokestacks, The Brudenell Social Club, Headrow House, The Wardrobe and their recent debut EP launch hitting Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen.
Excited to be a part of Leeds’ blossoming music scene they have planned some UK dates to bring this groove right to your door.
Their newest release ‘Moonlight Walking’ is a blend of all their music tastes but with the Soul inflections that keep your eyes squeezed shut and body moving.
Sheffield's monthly night market, serving up some of Britain's best street food traders, craft beers, live music & art.
