Foot-Tapping Acoustic
A 4 piece band called Minty Squirrel placed a small ad asking for a cahon player, and Geraldo and Bart met and started making simple pub music.
Minty Squirrel sadly are no more following emotional, cultural and artistic differences between the musicians, but Bart and Ger formed My Tin Monkey to continue playing bawdy pub music in small corners of poky little pubs throughout the land for little or no money.
In a curious quirk of Fate, Daisy turned up and started playing the most amazing Irish fiddle and the trio was formed to play proper drinking songs, popular foot-tappers and proper pub music to excited audiences everywhere. The rest (as they say) is history!
At the Wheatsheaf you can get involved in a number of different nights. Monday night is great fun with wonderful renditions of Islands in the Stream by our in-house crooner Helena. There's a very popular quiz night at 8.30pm on a Sunday with prizes and it's free entry too. We serve quality homecooked food, fine ales & wines and we are very proud of our selection of craft gins and various tonics.
Food may be enjoyed in the spacious restaurant while there is plenty of room for those just wishing to enjoy a drink, either in the cosy lounge or the traditional 'Tap Room' public bar, the latter with darts and pool.
Spring is here and we will be playing some popular foot-tappers and Irish jigs, reels and polkas (hopefully) out in the garden
