Description

Part of the musical landscape of the East Midlands since 1991, Nottingham Concert Band is an independent community windband based in West Bridgford, South Nottingham.

The band draws on a diversity of musical styles, from classical transcriptions to contemporary compositions and from film and show compilations to big band favourites, and an extensive repertoire ensures a different programme for each performance.

Since 1993, the band has been led by Conductor & Music Director Robert Parker. A Graduate and Fellow of Trinity College London, where he studied horn and piano, Robert performs professionally in a wide diversity of contexts. He also teaches brass privately and is the county representative for the Trinity examinations board. Robert is assisted by Associate Conductor Ashley Parnell, who occasionally leads rehearsals and concerts in Robert’s absence.

Band membership stands currently at over 60 musicians, who come from all across the East Midlands and who range in age from 17 to 70-plus. Rehearsals are held at Jesse Gray School on Musters Road in West Bridgford each Tuesday evening – except for the Summer, Easter and Christmas holiday periods – and any players interested in attending are invited to get in touch.

Visit the homely atmosphere of Café Patchings, which is open daily throughout the year from 9.00 am. until 5.30 pm, except between Christmas Day and New Years Day inclusive.
With many establishments offering self service, Café Patchings maintains its table service facilities. During warmer weather visitors may prefer to sit in the open in one of the two Crew Yards. The open fire is always popular during the winter months. Free Wifi is available.

The menu provides a wide choice from drinks, simple snacks and salads to full meals. The complete menu is available during all opening times. Most drinks and meals can packaged to take away.

All the food is prepared and cooked in the award winning Patchings kitchens which are 5 star health and hygiene rated. Special diets and needs are catered for, including a wide range of vegetarian dishes.

The restaurant licence allows alcohol to be served with meals, but equally popular are the range of speciality teas and coffees. The restaurant can easily be divided to allow for more private occasions and celebrations.

A wonderful day out for the band and the public at Patchings Art Festival, with so much to see and hear. Let's hope it's not as hot as last year!
