Live Performance
Brass Band
Friendly 4th section band, Black Country Brass Band, has existed for over 47 years. It is very active throughout the area, and can be heard giving concerts at a variety of venues including local parks through the summer months.
Black Country Brass is proud to remain a very social band, and under its musical director, Alwyn Manley, who has been an ever present influence for over 20 years, it is still nurturing young talent. Alongside the more experienced players the younger players are able to gain valuable experience.
Remembrance Sunday features high on the bands’ list of annual events, when it marches and supplies the supporting music for the large parade around the Gornal area, and it also plays at the West Bromwich Town Hall and Wolverhampton Civic Hall evening Remembrance Services.
The band is grateful for the support of the Lower Gornal Royal British Legion Club where it practises once a week every Thursday from 8.00 – 9.30pm.
Covering 16.3 hectares to the west of Bromsgrove, the park links the town to the countryside beyond. Together with the small valley of the Battlefield Brook that runs through it, has been an important green space for the town for centuries. It was formally opened as a park in 1968.
The Jubilee Bandstand is just one of the facilities in the park, others include, cafe & toilets, and a Sensory Garden
