The Sid Bolan Big Band was formed over 30 years ago in Basildon, Essex.
Amazingly there are still a few founder members playing with the band!
In fact our name Sid Bolan, is an anagram of Basildon.

Remember Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie and Duke Ellington? Well, the Sid Bolan Big Band recreates the sounds of those and other great swing bands. Our singers perform songs from the songbooks of such great singers as Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Peggy Lee and Ella Fitzgerald to name but a few.

The spread of music we play is wide and varied. From traditional Big Band music to ballroom ,latin and other modern dance music. The band also includes a selection of more modern music so to cater for all occasions. Michael Buble, Gordon Goodwin, Robbie Williams etc.

We are available for; parties, celebrations, corporate events, ballroom and latin dance and social dance evenings. Our musicians can cope with any environment.

The normal line up of the band consists of 5 Saxophones, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, piano, bass, guitar, drums and a number of vocalists - yes - we really are a big band.

Set in the decorative gardens of Priory Park this bandstand offers a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle.
