In a UK reggae scene that has long eschewed bands in favour of sound systems, Backbeat Soundsystem are a different beast, bringing 8 musicians to the stage.

While many of their peers are slavish in their attempt to recreate an authentic Jamaican-leaning sound, Backbeat Soundsystem are not afraid to go in totally different directions, pulling in influences from all across the music spectrum, to create their vision of modern reggae.

Dean and Adjua effortlessly tear up the stage with lush harmonies, soaring melodies and natural born chemistry.
This combined with a flawless horn section and undeniable groove leaves the audience mesmerised by their show stopping performance.

Bringing an electronic flavour to the mix, with dub effects, sirens and live analog synthesiser, Backbeat Soundsystem remind the world that dub reggae is at the forefront of dance music culture.

Description

Free music and arts festival that is held in Exmouth every summer, and has done so for the last 18 years.
The festival is a FREE event and our thanks go to The Arts Council, who provide funding, other Sponsors and Partners, and to you, The General Public, who without your generous donations, this event could not possibly be staged. Throughout the Festival there will be opportunities for you to show your support by dropping a donation into the Official Festival Collecting Buckets.
