Live Performance
Brass Band
Knaresborough Silver Band is a traditional Brass Band with a long history of providing entertaining music for all occasions and currently competing in the 4th Section.
Formed in the first half of the 19th Century, we are one of only a few bands to have been in continuous existence since. We perform at a wide range of concerts, contests and events around the North of England, such as the world famous Knaresborough Bed Race, Durham Miners' Gala and Ripon Brass Festival.
In recent years, the band has gained fame on TV screens as part of the 'PlusNet Band' in their series of popular adverts as well as performing during the BBC Olympic Torch coverage, 'Tour de Brass festival', and the FEVA festival.
Having won the North of England Championships in 2015, the band have gone on to represent their region at the last two National Championships. As a result of our run of success, we will be promoted to the 3rd Section nationally from January 2017!
Our thriving membership of over 30 players includes several families, spans many generations and ranges in abilities from less experiences to veterans of the banding world. The Band rehearses each Tuesday between 7.30pm and 9.30pm at COGS Knaresborough. If you are interested in joining, you are very welcome to come to a rehearsal to play or to listen.
The Bandstand was built by volunteers and public subscription in 2000 by the river at the Wilderness Car Park in Wetherby.
