Live Performance
Early American Roots Music ~ Western Swing, Blues, Early Jazz, Hokum, Gypsy Jazz Swing, Ragtime Blues.
Since swapping the television for a piano, The Hot House Four progressed from jamming in the lounge to a band in a matter of months. Willy Briggs together with his wife Lisa Briggs teamed up with daughter Lola Gaskin-Briggs and Dan Morley to play some early American roots music.
They blend a creative mix of Western swing, early jazz, blues, swing and rag time with twin guitars, accordion, lap steel, harmonica, mandolin and upright bass.
In 2016, the band were joined by their clarinet player, Tim who has really added that extra swing. He now joins them at most gigs.
Over the last four years, The Hot House Four have gone from strength to strength breaking through onto several scenes of music including the Folk, Blues, Jazz, Americana and Rockin' scenes. They have played all over the UK and several times in Europe, stirring up a storm where ever they go!
People are always impressed and thrilled at the energy and passion that flies off the stage when The Hot House Four do their thing ... exciting times ahead!

Famous in the 1960s and 70s for folk music and then punk, latterly it has become a jazz venue and home to SpiceJazz club. Up to 5 real ales from the McMullen range on offer and free admission to the main bar but you may have to pay for some music gigs in the basement.
Upstairs at the Spice is for drinks, eats and good times. Enjoy Great British classics with special seasonal dishes prepared daily by our chefs.
