Tankus The Henge

Genre

Live Performance
Funk Rock n Roll

Description

Tankus the Henge is the London based, five wheeled, funk fuelled, open top, custom paint job, rock ‘n’ roll jalopy that comes careering round the corner on a tranquil summer’s day, ruining the silence and disturbing the bats.

Having played over 1000 shows all over the world the Tankus the Henge live experience is something to behold. Combining wild showmanship and musical dexterity their sound incorporates rock, funk, blues, ska, roots and gypsy rhythms and their songs tell stories of wonder and woe.
Since the release of their first album in 2013 the band has toured extensively across Europe and also become a favourite on the festival circuit.
Tankus the Henge have played at:
Glastonbury, Benicassim, WOMAD (UK and Gran Canaria), Isle of Wight, Boomtown, Montreux Jazz Festival, Latitude, Bestival, Les Fanfarfelues, Port Eliot, Shambala, Solfest, Artisti in Piazza, Waterford Spraoi, Secret Garden Party, Fusion, Beautiful Days and many more.
With their charismatic frontman, Jaz Delorean, looking like a lost character from a Terry Gilliam film Tankus the Henge launch into their live shows like a band possessed. They’ve left audiences breathless at headline shows including Scala, The Garage, The Borderline and The Jazz Café. They’ve featured on TV, in major advertising campaigns, toured Albania as emissaries for the British Council and made records in Nashville, Tennessee.

All the band’s singles, ‘Cakewalk’, ‘Recurring Dream’, ‘Smiling Makes The Day Go Quicker’ and ‘Weather’, have been featured extensively on radio including plays on Alex Lester’s Radio 2 show as well as Steve Lamacq and Chris Hawkins’ 6 Music shows.

Weyfest Profile Pic

Description

Imagine ……
A Music Festival without mud.

Where …….
People open gates for you, say “excuse me” and move aside to let you to the bar.

The tantalising aromas of great food mix with the nostalgic smell of steam from the resident railway, conjuring up memories of a bygone industrial age.

Both Young and Old come to share new music experiences, together.

The sound of live music is everywhere whilst you wander through a fascinating museum dedicated to life in Rural England.

Fans laugh, smile and nod to each other with a familiarity gained only from their mutual annual pilgrimage.

SOUND TOO GOOD? NOT SO. THAT’S WEYFEST.

Weyfest is more like a mini-holiday than a music festival. It is a stress-free weekend in the country, with over 30 hours of the finest music from 4 stages, camping, posh loos, friendly
staff and plenty to occupy the kids with music-, drama- and creative arts workshops; train rides and the many attractions offered by the venue itself - The Rural Life Centre, Tilford, set in the outstanding natural beauty of the Surrey Hills.

There is a fabulous selection of great food available from the in-house café and the plentiful food stalls; a wonderfully stocked bar at pub prices; a fascinating museum and the
friendliest staff and audience you will ever encounter at a festival.

The venue itself is a major reason for Weyfest’s increasing popularity. The Rural Life Centre is a working museum, littered with artefacts of past country life and craft displays throughout the venue.

A working light railway runs both steam and diesel trains around the perimeter of the venue and because the venue is so compact everything is within easy reach.
No trudging for miles from the car park or campsite, no long walks between stages ... and no major journey to reach the excellent food and bars!
