Live Performance
Blues, Jazz, Folk
"Beautiful songs, deep lyrics and catchy melodies" is how BBC Music Introducing describe the oxford-based singer songwriter.
Tom draws inspiration from his love for the blues, various folk music and even jazz.
Fascinated with the history steeped in music dating back as far as the turn of the twentieth century, Tom's repertoire consists of stories from the times whilst utilising a mix of rootsy acoustic, growling electric guitar, wailing harmonica and chiming ukulele.
Growing up in Hereford, Tom started to learn guitar at the age of 12. heavily influenced by music of the skateboarding scene, Tom would play with his bandmates making rough recordings on an old 4-track and playing school talent shows.
Tom's first studio experience came at the age of 15 where he recorded a two song demo with his band.
Upon leaving school, Tom joined the army which led to his training as an engineer. Tom's passion for music never dwindled and he would often seek solace during long periods away from home by writing and playing his music.
When Tom left the army, he relocated to oxford and began his training as a teacher. It was in the city of "dreaming spires" where Tom was inspired to start performing live.
Tom has since started steady gigging, playing his own headline performances, local festivals and been a featured support act for well-known local blues acts and the likes of Gerry Colvin.
A unique and intimate gig in the south Oxfordshire countryside during the summer of 2017 resulted in tom's debut album release, "live @ the yurt", showcasing his ability as a songwriter and also his own interpretations of the music that inspires him.
Most recently, Tom released his first e.p., "feelin' the pinch" consisting of 5 self-penned originals which has been met with positive reception through a hometown launch gig in Hereford and a feature on BBC introducing as well as other local radio shows.
Situated in the heart of Fitzrovia, The Lucky Pig is a convivial blend of retro décor and classic cocktails, providing in-the-know Londoners with old fashioned glamour and good times as soon as they walk down the stairs and enter this intimate and decadent drinking den.
Launched in December 2011, The Lucky Pig is a rare gem for those looking to escape the hum drum of daily life and enjoy beautifully prepared drinks in a vibrant and welcoming environment.
The design of the bar has drawn on elements from the Art Nouveau period and old New York to create a space packed full of fascinating design features, wooden floors, beautiful mismatched furniture and plush upholstery. Juxtaposing exposed brickwork with one-off art pieces, Chinese parasols, antique mirrors and chandeliers, the venue is a veritable treasure trove of collectible objects. Along the back wall is the bar fashioned from an old shop front, serving delicious cocktails. Lining the side of the venue is a collection of cubby holes seating up to 8 people. Featuring cosy little nest tables and the glow of flickering candlelight, the booths are ideal for private parties.
The whole feel of the venue is one of old school style and night-time mischief. The warm glow of the parasol lampshades cast light on the rickety piano and upstanding grandfather clock, while the tables and chairs can easily be pushed out the way for some spontaneous dancing once the evening gets underway. Even the antique ornaments are available for purchase if a guest really falls in love with a particular piece.
The cocktail menu features classic, simple, but perfectly formed concoctions all served in beautiful glassware. Eschewing bottle service, the Champagne will be served in coupes not flutes, and there will not be a sparkler in sight. The highly trained bar staff provide expert advice on the best cocktail to suit a particular mood or taste. Examples from the menu include:
• Tea Dance - Earl Grey infused Bombay Sapphire Gin, Apricot Liqueur, Lemon & homemade Lavender Bitters
• A New Old Fashioned - Zacapa 23yo Rum, Stout & Coffee reduction and a splash of Kamm & Sons
Also available to accompany the drinks is a selection of bar snacks, created by The Lucky Pig team. There are meat and cheese platters and handmade stone-baked pizzettas, with all ingredients locally sourced.
Music is an important feature in The Lucky Pig calendar. Every month the bar hosts Live Music Tuesday to Thursday and their own resident DJs on Fridays and Saturdays, so guests can enjoy a relieving post-work tipple or a long-awaited night of dancing and debauchery into the early hours.
With 90 capacity standing and relaxed seating for 50 - 60 standing, The Lucky Pig is the ideal option for an event. Featuring distinct private areas for 8 – 90, a stage, multimedia options and a fantastic PA and sound system, the venue can host live bands, product launches, meetings, and intimate gatherings. The staff, all experienced in events are able to create a tailor-made events package and advise guests on all aspects of the event, from the canapé and drinks menus to the music choice.
