Formed in 2012 our current membership is now over 90+ performers. We are a community choir so all ages and ranges of singing ability are catered for.
All that is required is enthusiasm!
In the years since its inception in 2012 the Gospel Choir has grown in number to almost 100 members without losing its real community ‘feel’. One of the key factors in this success has been the weekly inspiration provided by enigmatic Choir Director Gareth Fuller who directs and leads choirs across the UK, but who is based in Wellingborough itself. The growing repertoire ranges from traditional gospel and hymns to more modern, popular music.
Rehearsals are held in the Chapel at Wellingborough School each Tuesday evening from 7.30-9pm during school term-time and concerts are held on a regular basis throughout the year. These include community events as part of an involvement with mass choirs in venues such as the Royal Festival Hall, the Derngate in Northampton, Kettering’s Masque Theatre and the Castle in Wellingborough. At the same time some of the most rewarding gigs are those in smaller local churches and community halls in support of local charities and specific projects.
We pride ourselves on being inclusive in that the choir welcomes all singers irrespective of ability and age; there are no auditions required and no previous choral experience is necessary. The only requirement is that of enthusiasm and a sense of fun!
We hold social and fundraising events in the church hall. We have lovely acoustics for choirs and bands.
