The Lock & Quay, Canalside pub, reopened in January 2018 by SAFE Regeneration, is Bootle's only not for profit community pub.

A small bar serves an "L" shaped room which features local visual artists, and photographs of the local area. Seating and tables by the real fire are the product of "upcycling" from the community project itself. There is a small library to browse, and board games for the competitive.
