New Cross Live Presents Meiotempos All brazilian london-based post-punk trio. Caio Orio (guitar/vocals), Thiago Costa Behrndt (drums/vocals), and Vitor Meuren (bass/vocals) figured out their musical direction over pizza at a random spot in walthamstow — landing on something between Fugazi and Sonic Youth, as you do. Rehearsals came together faster than expected. Songs were built without much drama, the three of them finding a shared language through noise, dynamics, and silence — equal parts creative outlet and escape from the daily grind.Six months in, they headed to Fuzzbrain Studios in Walthamstow for a cold November weekend and recorded five tracks. The EP "número A" was released this past spring, mixed and mastered in Belo Horizonte by Lucas Luis, with cover art by Lucas Rampazzo. "número A" is out now on bandcamp, on casette and all other streaming platforms.https://meiotempo.bandcamp.com/+ Support TBA
Description
The New Cross Inn stands as a vital cultural artery in Southeast London, a long-established live music venue that consistently champions both international touring artists and burgeoning local talent. It functions as a significant hub for grassroots music, fostering a diverse community of performers and audiences, including a notable student presence from nearby Goldsmiths College.
Inside, the atmosphere is defined by a palpable energy, particularly when a performance ignites the room. The air often carries the faint scent of hops and the warmth of close-packed bodies, while the worn surfaces of the bar and stage bear the marks of countless memorable nights. The compact layout ensures an intimate connection between artist and audience, creating a raw, unfiltered experience.
Practical considerations are addressed with a commitment to accessibility, including a dedicated accessible toilet and a lowered section of the bar for wheelchair users. A wide selection of lagers, spirits, ales, and ciders, including local favourites, is readily available, with prices clearly displayed on chalkboards.
The venue maintains a robust schedule of events, offering live music six or seven nights a week, alongside regular open mic sessions. Its programming spans a broad spectrum of genres, from punk and ska to indie, metal, and alternative sounds, ensuring a dynamic and ever-evolving calendar of performances.
