New Cross Live presents
Three For Silver
Three For Silver is a tatterdemalion ensemble of rotating musicians led by Lucas Warford, “the acid baby of Tom Waits and Les Claypool,” as NW legend Baby Gramps called him. It's an aggressively original band that is impervious to easy description. PR people often use phrases like Mythic Americana, Doomfolk, or Apocalypso. Some of those are pretty good, but they still just feel like the desperate necessities of someone forced to fill out a form labelled "genre".
Three For Silver features one-of-a-kind instruments you've never seen playing styles mixed in ways you've never heard. The band has hit the road since 2013, and their monomaniacal devotion has already led them all over the USA and the world, from Accordion Festivals in Vienna to Modern Music Expos in Russia, and even partnering with the US State Department for ongoing cultural exchange tours to countries thirsty for truly original American music.

Description
The New Cross Inn stands as a vital cultural artery in Southeast London, a long-established live music venue that consistently champions both international touring artists and burgeoning local talent. It functions as a significant hub for grassroots music, fostering a diverse community of performers and audiences, including a notable student presence from nearby Goldsmiths College.
Inside, the atmosphere is defined by a palpable energy, particularly when a performance ignites the room. The air often carries the faint scent of hops and the warmth of close-packed bodies, while the worn surfaces of the bar and stage bear the marks of countless memorable nights. The compact layout ensures an intimate connection between artist and audience, creating a raw, unfiltered experience.
Practical considerations are addressed with a commitment to accessibility, including a dedicated accessible toilet and a lowered section of the bar for wheelchair users. A wide selection of lagers, spirits, ales, and ciders, including local favourites, is readily available, with prices clearly displayed on chalkboards.
The venue maintains a robust schedule of events, offering live music six or seven nights a week, alongside regular open mic sessions. Its programming spans a broad spectrum of genres, from punk and ska to indie, metal, and alternative sounds, ensuring a dynamic and ever-evolving calendar of performances.
