The origins of THE HARRY MASON PROJECT go back to the dark days of Covid 19 lockdowns. Paul, who has always written songs, (mostly for his own amusement) was encouraged by Ian to develop material that could be used by their current band when life eventually returned to something like normal. This initiative eventually led to ten songs that were recorded and released to surprisingly good effect. Fast-forward another four years and we now have a lineup specifically chosen from several bands to best showcase the songs, which now number around 25.
The Lancashire-based band’s genre sits somewhere between rock and blues (‘block’ perhaps?) and has created quite a stir around Preston and the Fylde Coast. Highlights of 2025 included an appearance at the famous Blues Bar in Harrogate, a spot at the St Anne’s Music Festival and a couple of appearances at local ‘hidden gem’ venue, The Stagedoor in Longridge.

The Continental was Camra West Lancashire Pub of the Year 2010 & 2011, with a range of six changing ales, including a house beer especially brewed for us by Marble Beers, artisan ciders, speciality European and US beers both on tap and in bottle, award-winning wines from Byrne’s of Clitheroe, a great range of soft drinks and the best beer garden in town.
Our regional, seasonal kitchen serves up restaurant quality fresh food with daily specials and favourites, and we’re the indie culture venue of choice in Preston with cinema, theatre, music and more on weekly in our arts space.
Situated on the banks of the Ribble, just a brief walk away from the city centre and adjacent to picturesque park land, The Continental is an oasis of fine food, drinks and atmosphere. We hope to see you sometime soon.
