Out Front truly is a UK Jazz supergroup, featuring five top level instrumentalists. Between them, these musicians have played in the bands of Robert Plant, McCoy Tyner, Eliza Carthy, Mulatu Astatke and Andrew Hill. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear truly some exceptional musicianship in the beautiful acoustic of our old chapel.
Led by trumpet star Nick Malcolm, Out Front has its roots anchored in two of jazz’s greatest ‘inside-outside’ masters, Booker Little and Andrew Hill, it now presents entirely original music, composed by Nick and other members of the band.
Featuring a rich line-up of three horns, drums and bass, the band draws on years of collective experience at the highest level of jazz and improvised music, exploring a full spectrum of possibilities, from joyous straight ahead time playing, to the most open of improvisation.
