A rare opportunity to hear two very special and talented musicians who bring emotional insight and a refreshing musicality to their unique and personal interpretations.

Julie and Michael present an exciting and varied programme of the great songs from the jazz/blues years to the present including a French chanson or two, a little Latin and one or two Hinton originals. Whatever the feeling or style, soulful, swinging, witty or gritty, Julie and Michael have just got it.

Michael is a pianist, composer, song writer and musical arranger who studied music at Oxford and the Royal College of Music, Stockholm. He has had a very varied musical career from composing assignments for the BBC, and teaching at the Dartington International Summer School for five years to being a member of bassist, Herbie Flowers' Music Box quartet, and performing on cruise ships and in smart hotels.

Julie sang with a rock band, Sunn, and the Steve Ellinger Jazz Quartet when she was a student here in Brighton, then turned her back on the singing career that beckoned only to emerge in the last ten years via the folk scene, Swingbandit, a jazz quintet, and singing with big bands.

Now she is in her true musical element in a fruitful collaboration with Michael Hinton. Together they offer a richly rewarding musical experience.

It's been a long time coming that these two perform at The Verdict and we're so looking forward to hosting them.
