Songwriters Hall of Fame 2016 inductee Chip Taylor has been writing and performing for nearly 60 years and shows no sign of slowing down. The New York Times says it best, If you only know him as the guy who wrote 'Wild Thing' and 'Angel of the Morning you don't know him! Chip Taylor is making some of the most distinctive acoustic music around today.

Creating distinctive music that is also enduring and influential has been Chip Taylor's métier over the course of what is closing in on five decades as one of America's finest songwriters as well as a masterful singer and performer, says Rolling Stone. His two best-known songs are only some of the many pop, rock, country and R&B chart hits he wrote in the 1960s (Janis Joplin, The Hollies, Linda Ronstadt, Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield and Frank Sinatra among many others recorded his songs).

Born in Yonkers, Wesley Voight (brother of actor Jon Voight) began his career in 1958 as 'Wes Voight and the Town Three' releasing two singles. His first chart hit was his recording (as Chip Taylor) of "Here I Am" in 1962 on Warner Bros. After focusing more on songwriting, music publishing and management. In the early 70's he record with Al Gorgoni and Trade Martin as Gorgoni, Martin & Taylor. After many years away from the music business he restarted his performing and recording career in 1993. At Austin's South by Southwest Music Conference Chip met singer and violinist Carrie Rodriguez, with whom he performed and recorded Americana music for several years. The duo recorded Let's Leave This Town in 2002, The Trouble With Humans the following year and the critically acclaimed Red Dog Tracks in 2005. Each has since released successful solo albums. Taylor's double-CD Unglorious Hallelujah/Red Red Rose, his first solo album in five years, was quickly hailed the best Chip Taylor solo release. Since the turn of the century Taylor's regular accompanist has been guitarist John Platania who in the 70's was a member of Van Morrison's Caledonian Soul Orchestra.

As Carrie Rodriguez pursued a solo career Taylor toured and recorded with young singer/fiddler Kendel Carson, and produced both their 2007 albums. Shaggy utilized "Angel of the Morning" as the basis for his hit "Angel" in 2001. Chip Taylor's album "Yonkers, NY" was a 2011 Grammy Award nominee
