We are delighted to be bringing The Rutland Troubador to the village hall for a special evening celebrating the release of his new album, Market Town; this effectively being the local launch gig.
Based in Oakham, Paul has built up a solid reputation as one of the hardest-working singer/songwriters out there, with countless gigs racked up across the country and beyond; house concerts being a speciality. His gigs are renowned as much for his hugely entertaining between-the-songs chat as they are for his songs; and, make no mistake, his are superb songs.
The songs on the new album are inspired by Paul's life in Oakham, and deal with themes such as love, loss, life and death; of characters met and conversations shared, and of fighting past demons. A June release date means that festival season will need to be navigated before this celebration gig can take place (including a slot at Glastonbury), but it will be worth the wait.
Normally a solo performer, Paul brings with him a full band made up of friends and collaborators from the new CD and other projects.
Support comes from Bedford singer-songwriter David Banks. A longtime member of The Whybirds, David has proven himself to be a talented guitarist and songwriter and released his debut album, Until The End, earlier this year to great acclaim; the highly-respected American UK website describing it as "Big, honest Americana in the mould of Petty and Springsteen."
