WATER YEAT VILLAGE HALL
A Concert by Tipitina
at 8.00 pm (doors open 7.30 pm) on Friday 11th October 2019
Admission £12.00 on the door or in advance
In the footsteps of Professor Longhair, Dr. John, James Booker, Fats Domino and Allen Toussaint, Tipitina deliver their own unique take on the blues, barrelhouse, boogie and gospel of New Orleans. Following on from their acclaimed debut album 'I Wish I Was In New Orleans', Tipitina massively increased their following with the terrific 'Taking Care of Business', recorded at the Birmingham International Jazz & Blues Festival. Already the House Full signs are going up at Ronnie Scotts and elsewhere, as the band come to the attention of the media, runners up in the jazz category of the 2017 Urban Music Awards and 3rd in the Best Small Group category of the 31st British Jazz Awards.
Singer Debbie Jones is as sultry as a night downtown, while piano player Justin Randall boogies like there's no tomorrow, capturing the sound of the Crescent City's juke joints and piano dives like no one else this side of the Atlantic
