Description

...& celebrate the music of THE KENNY CLARKE - FRANCY BOLAND BIG BAND - In February 1969, the legendary Kenny Clarke - Francy Boland Big Band had a two-week residency at Ronnie Scott's that blew attendance records out of the water and wowed audiences. The Clarke / Boland band had a reputation as one of the tightest, hardest swinging big bands ever. Its multi-national roster of top players communicated Francy Boland's intricate arrangements with a unity of sound and purpose, and with an enthusiasm, that has left an indelible mark on the history of jazz in Europe. RYJO is a London big band that was founded five years ago for the purpose of playing the music of the CBBB. To mark the 50th anniversary of the recording of the 'Volcano / Rue Chaptal - Live at Ronnie Scott's!', RYJO returns to The Spice of Life to play music drawn from that album. The Orchestra: Trumpets: DAVID NELSON, JAMIE PARRY, OLIVIER RIFFAUD, NICK HASEMAN ; Trombones: ANDREW BUTCHER, JONATHAN PARKER, JOHN TAYLOR, HYWEL WALTERS; Reeds: STEVE DARLINGTON, JANE DARLINGTON, ALDEVIS TIBALDI, JOHN DOE, WILLIAM SYMINGTON; Rhythm section: JULIET MORTON, ROGER HARDING, ED WILLIAMS
