We are very excited to be welcoming Rachel Newton back to the club. This will be Rachel's fifth visit to the Guildford Institute, her third as a solo performer (she was a member of the Emily Portman Trio on the other two occasions).
Winner of the 'BBC Radio 2 Musician of the Year Folk Award' in 2017, Rachel specialises in interpreting traditional folk songs in both English and Gaelic as well as writing and arranging her own music. She plays fiddle and viola in addition to harp, and in 2016, received a 'Hands Up for Trad Ignition Award' for Innovation and was awarded Instrumentalist of the Year 2016 at the 'Scots Trad Music Awards'.
