From 11.00am to 1.00pm. Participants will work with textile artist Seiko to make an individual wooden lantern using cotton threads. These will be used as part of 'Lantern Lit', an illuminated lantern walk through the historic Clusters mill workers' housing in Belper on Saturday 26 October. (Participants can collect their lanterns after the event). After the workshop enjoy a tour of the museum and learn more of the story of Belper, the world's first 'cotton town', the Strutt family and the cotton spinning industry in the Derwent Valley from out lively and very knowledgeable guides.
Seiko is a Japanese artist based in Sheffield, one of the selected artists for the DVMWHS Vital Valley art commissions project, working with Strutt's North Mill museum.
