A sizzling Southern Italian party at Jamboree with the whirlwind Amaraterra!
Amaraterra is the first Pizzica ensemble in London- performing traditional dances and music from the heel of Italy. A 'Pizzica' is the malicious bite of the tarantula spider. In order to heal from the poison you must dance till you drop, following the intense, restless beat of the tambourine. It is one of the oldest musical expressions of the Mediterranean, brought to London by a group of passionate musicians and dancers.
Expect a flourish of instruments, colour and movement.
Amaraterra are:
Simona de Leonardis (vocals and dancer)
Carla Pandarese (vocals and dancer)
Antonio Fersini (vocals and guitar)
Alfredo Giani (vocals, mandola, mouth harmonica)
Stelios Katsatsidis (accordion)
Massimiliano Passante (vocals and tamburine)
Federico Tommasi (vocals and tambourine)
Cassandre Balosso-Bardin (vocals, recorder)
Mark Glanville (vocals, clarinet, ciaramella)
DJ Aly Prince will also be laying down the world beats.
