Fleece Jazz Presents: Renato D'aiello Plays The Music Of Cedar Walton Event Title Pic

Description

Renalto d'Aiello, born in Napoli in 1959, turned pro in 1986, joining Giovanni Tommaso's TV big band. The following year he was awarded a scholarship Berklee (Massachusetts). Subsequently he became toured the international jazz scene, with Art Farmer as well as top European musicians. He settled in England. His first performance at the club was in 2002. Despite being frequently invited back, this modest Italian still looks surprised that we enjoy him so much.
"Relaxed, unhurried but imbued with intense warmth tinged with poignancy, D'Aiello's tenor sound thus prioritises the expression of sentiment" - Chris Parker, Jazz CD review, Vortex 2007

Award winning Hungarian pianist Mátyás Gayer and Italian drummer Alfonso Vitale appear weekly with Renalto at Ronnie Scott's.
br/> Tonight Renalto's quintet plays the music of Cedar Walton, who was born in Dallas in 1934. By the end of his twenties, Cedar was the hard bop pianist/arranger for Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. He went on composing and playing jazz into his eighties.
