WEIRDSVILLE and STAY SICK present 'A Night of Delinquent Rock'n'Roll'

The Silly Walks (France)
Young French swamp-garage trio, The Silly Walks have just released their debut album and pack in ten songs of pure garage. Listen to the LP here www.thesillywalks.bandcamp.com/album/hazy-fuzzy-buzz

They call it 'swamp garage' and the definition fits like a glove as, right from the opening song, My Thing, a battle of distortion ensues between the guitar, bass, and even the vocals. It's all propped up and propelled along by riotously rhythmic drums that pull the chaos together. It's a style that they employ very well throughout the album.

It's easy to discern the influence of The Cramps in the spirit of The Silly Walks (and is undeniable in the song Die Anna), along with touches of Tav Falco's Panther Burns in their sound. It's great to hear an updated garage sound that pulls at this thread. The songs are often dense in sound, but at the same time full of tongue-in-cheek fun. They occasionally drop in a more terror-induced groove, such as on Zombie Love and Yours, which suddenly rise up into dancey rhythms that not even the wall of distortion can hide. Songs like Tell Me skirt close to the delirium of early-Hives, with tight rhythms that spit out energy. Ethylic Night Out, with its surf rock 'n' roll, is a highlight that will shake any living soul to their bones.

There's certainly a growing garage and rock 'n' roll scene in France right now, and The Silly Walks, with this debut album, have made it clear that they will definitely be ones to watch. It's an album that calls to mind the sounds of garage's long history, while also piling on pounds of originality.

DJs Mr A & Miss A (Weirdsville) along with Neil Sick (Stay Sick)
will be spinin' delinquent trashy 45s through the night
