Vasilis' third album as leader celebrates the music and spirit of Dexter Gordon, a true heavyweight of the tenor saxophone, and features Dexter originals, some standards played 'Dexter-style' and a couple of Vas's own Dexter-influenced compositions.

"Dexter was my first big hero and the impact of his music on me goes way back to when I was still a teenager. His 1962 recording 'Go!' was the first of many in my record collection and to this day I can sing along to all the solos from that album with the same enthusiasm I had as a kid. Subsequently there have of course been other influences on my playing, but Dexter remains my top inspiration when it comes to tone and melodic development. This project has been a long time coming and I hope you will enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed recording it."

In addition to the tickets allocated to this site, a certain number may be purchased in person from the cafe (not by phone, please) and at other jazz gigs. Remaining unreserved tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis from 7.0 pm on the evening of the gig. Tickets booked online cannot be refunded in the event of non-attendance.
