Description

Composer and trumpet player Miguel Gorodi leads this talent-packed nonet which plays all original compositions. The music is influenced by jazz musicians such as Steve Coleman, Steve Lehman, Tyshawn Sorey, Thelonious Monk and Wayne Shorter, as well as classical composers such as Louis Andriessen, Gérard Grisey, Per Nørgård and Stravinsky. Gorodi balances texture, colour, form and interweaving rhythmic grooves to create evocative sound worlds for these exceptional improvisers to explore within. The group are currently touring their debut album Apophenia which was released on Ubuntu in May this year.
