'The Life and Death of the Tragical History of Doctor Faustus' is an Elizabethan tragedy by Christopher Marlowe, based on a German legend.
The story follows the fortunes of Faustus after he makes a pact with Lucifer. Powerful and timeless, exploring themes of sin, redemption, damnation, social values, power and corruption. Elements of the supernatural and practical joking continue throughout, and Marlowe never strays far from a vein of dark comedy.
