On Wednesday December 11th at Jamboree in London's east end, a night devoted to the music of the island of Crete, Greece and the Mediterranean, with The Cretan Players.
Cretan music is wild and unpredictable, markedly different to the disciplined bouzouki music of the Greek mainland, with endless melodies, one after the other in stomping rhythms, sometimes monotonous and archaic, sometimes almost ecstatic, and unmistakable Asian influence.
Jamboree is a grass-roots world music venue and bar hosting Folk, Blues, Americana, Celtic, Mediterranean, Eastern, European, GypsyPunk and Old Time Jazz!
Jamboree is back with a POP-UP adventure in a different venue in Limehouse from December 1st!
