Description

Winner of the 2013 Dankworth Prize for Jazz Composition and many other awards, Tom Green is a trombonist, composer and arranger described as "a new rising star in the British jazz scene" by Nigel Williams (Jazz FM). His current main project is the Tom Green Septet, who released their debut album "Skyline" in February 2015 to unanimous critical acclaim.

James Davidson won the Jazz Young Musician award last year. He studied Classical Trumpet at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and is currently studying for a Masters in Jazz Performance at The Royal Academy of Music. Alongside his studies, James regularly performs with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Concert Orchestra, the Syd Lawrence Orchestra and Pete Long's 'Jazz at the Philharmonic' band. He runs his own dixieland jazz band The Dixie Strollers.

Tom Smith is a London based saxophonist and composer. He runs a number of his own bands and has brought his music all round the UK, including two sold out headline shows at Ronnie Scott's. Twice finalist of the BBC Young Jazz Musician in 2014 and 2016, he studied at the Royal Academy of Music and graduated in 2018

Royal Academy nominated Sam Miles for a Yamaha Scholarship an event hosted by the All Party Parliamentary Jazz Appreciation Group. Apart from the scholarship certificate, the scholars are given a financial award to help start their careers and the opportunity to record for a CD given away with Jazzwise magazine.

Sam James has been establishing himself on the British Jazz Scene over the last few years having performed at many renowned venues such as Ronnie Scotts, Pizza Express, The Forge, Kings Place, and Queen Elizabeth Hall. He has been seen playing with many great musicians of other generations such as Clark Tracey, Paul Clarvis, Bobby Wellins, Gene Calderazzo, Geoff Simkins, Steve Watts and many more.

As one of the most in demand bassists in the UK, Joe Downard is widely recognised for his skills as a performer and improvisor. Joe is a crucial component to many of the UK's top rhythm sections that range from modern contemporary Jazz and Soul to Electronic and Western African music, he is regularly seen in these groups touring the UK and Europe. Predominantly an electric bass player in his early years, Joe made the move to London to focus on the upright bass in Jazz and soon embedded himself within the scene and notably the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. Shortly after joining the orchestra, Joe became the chair holder for NYJO and held the position for 4 years. During his time with the band, Joe recorded two highly acclaimed studio albums, toured extensively and performed with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Centre, Gregory Porter and some of the top UK jazz instrumentalists.

Jay Davis is an award-winning drummer and composer based in london. a proud recipient of the yamaha Jazz scholar prize, jay studied with drummers dave walsh, jeff williams and martin france at leeds college of music and the royal academy of music respectively.
jay has performed throughout the uk, europe and asia at festivals and venues including umbria jazz festival, Jimmy glass (Valencia), Jazzwerkstatt (Graz), Bimhuis (Amsterdam), die nato (Leipzig), Pizza express dean street (London) and paradox (Tilburg).
