Storytelling at the Feast of Fools, Dec 4th 2019:
Amy Douglas and Lucy Wells bring Wild Edric.
Wild Edric A Marriage beyond the Mortal, performed by Amy Douglas and Lucy Wells, (harmony, accordion).
The story of a mythical hero of the Marches who sleeps below the Stiperstones, warns the miners, married a fairy bride and leads the wild hunt out towards the enemy to warn of war on the horizon: Wild Edric, a mix of real medieval history from Shropshire and the Welsh Marches, with the worlds of myth, and magic.
Amy has been telling British stories for over twenty years: stories of heroes embedded in rugged hills; murders remembered by blood-soaked soil and selkie revenge on stony shores. Tales of drunken henwives and ale-loving monks; moon-lit magic and Devil's flame; she also holds in trust many of the stories and ballads of the famous, late Scottish Traveller, Duncan Williamson, whose apprentice she was.
Amy is at the centre of the resurgence of storytelling in Britain now.
Lucy Williams is a musician, performer, and artist who loves stories, the thread of narrative running through all her work. Like Amy, she has a deep love of the natural world.
