Set on a remote Island off the west coast of Ireland, this is a gritty yet comic tale in the great tradition of Irish storytelling. As word arrives that a Hollywood director is coming to the neighbouring island of Inishmore and is casting for his film, the one person who wants to be in the film more than anybody is young Cripple Billy, if only to break away from the gossip, poverty and boredom of island life. It's a powerful dark comedy which will make you laugh out loud, but with a lump in your throat!
