Not many people know that Vivaldi wrote at least three settings of the text 'Gloria In Excelsis Deo', and that only two survived: RV 588 (rarely heard) and RV 589 (the famous one). Placing selected movements of each mass side-by-side in the same concert, The Lea Singers and professional strings and soloists explore the differences between the two works, to try and understand why they have experienced such vastly different histories. BBC Baroque expert Lindsay Kemp helps set the context in a pre-concert talk at 7pm, before the concert start at 7.30pm.
