All The Wild Folk Presents The Swamp Stomp Sting Band + Devil's Doorbell At Jamboree Event Title Pic

Description

Our second of 3 events for Saturday December 7th at Jamboree. Live swing jazz, ragtime, blues and country swing with the brilliant Swamp Stomp String Band! Support on the night comes from Devil's Doorbell playing vintage 1920s and '30s jazz and blues, with a touch of cabaret skiffle!

Live music from 8pm till 11pm!
*Entry includes the clubnight after (we go till 2am)

Jake Watson and The Swamp Stomp String Band are not your average Americana band. Twangy Banjos, driving Guitars and a thudding Double Bass sit behind anything from drinking songs that'll have the room stomping there feet and shooting tequila to ballads that'l break even the most toughest folks, to ragtime songs of bar fights and gambling. The London-based duo can often be found busking by the side of Thames in the day and performing in any haunt from high end cocktails joints to dimly lit Irish bars at night.

Taking a mixture of Jazz, Country, Swing, Blues and Ragtime it is safe to say there music is there to be enjoyed by people young and old, rich or poor, or who just love to stamp there feet and have a ho-down.

Devil's Doorbell are true musical troubadors living and travelling on traditional narrow boats. Full of infectious energy they bring the cheeky, side of 1920s jazz in a skiffle cabaret style.

Whilst working in a sex shop Jellylegs Johnson began writing rude poems and was given the chance by a local punk band to shout them to indifferent audiences. She swiftly moved on to master the kazoo before eventually jumping behind the drum kit. Since moving away into the mysterious and wonderful watery ditches of Somerset and Wiltshire she found a kindred spirit in the form of Nipper. They bonded over their love of vintage jazz, blues and rude songs, Eventually they fell in love and made a washtub Bass together.

Born on the flat lands of Somerset, Nipper Lewis spent his childhood dreaming of living on a narrowboat and playing New Orleans Jazz. Naturally he left home and ended up living in a caravan and playing Reggae music. He has spent 30 years playing ukulele and can now often be seen brandishing it with gypsy jazz favorites The Water Gypsies. He has finally made his way to a ditch in Wiltshire, found his childhood dream and a beautiful girl of five foot two with eyes of blue.
