Winner of the 2018 BBC Young Jazz Musician of the year, by public demand Xhosa Cole returns to the Verdict with an all-star quartet featuring some of the finest new UK talent: fellow-finalist Owston, powerhouse drummer Bashford and Canadian virtuoso Phelps. The band embodies the spirit of the bebop masters, with a repertoire inspired by Sonny Rollins, Clifford Brown and Gigi Gryce, lighting up the stage with all the charisma, passion, chemistry and spontaneity reminiscent of that great era. They will feature classic arrangements, contemporary takes on standards and some of their own original compositions.
