Hold onto your hat for Jolene, a country and western clubnight playing the outlaws and the classics, the ballads and the beauties at The Fiddler's Elbow on ol' Chalk Farm.
It's a night for sitting around with a whiskey (double), looking at the stars through the bottom of glass, talking about the time Merle Haggard saw Johnny Cash play his Folsom Prison set as a prisoner with stripes around his shoulders, singing every word and shooting up on the old wooden dancefloor.
We play anything from The Carter Family to Cash, Dolly Parton to Neko Case, Hank Williams to Lucinda Williams, Kitty Wells to Glen Campbell, Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys to Townes Van Zandt. anything with a sweet pedal steel guitar and drunken fiddle swing, and the ballad of your broken dreams.
Direct requests beforehand to jolene.club@gmail.com.
The Fiddler's Elbow is our old saloon, suitably based through the stacks of hey round Chalk Farm, with even the odd tumbleweed blowing across (or is that a lock of Willie Nelson's hair?). There's a discount ticket link for cowboys and girls here.
*This night is hard drinking and hard dancing, no novelty.
Doors: 10.30 till 2am
