On Friday 17th April, The White Horse Folk Club is proud to welcome one of the finest guitarists and singers in the world to The United Reformed Church

Martin Simpson is quite simply a legend in the world of acoustic music. He has played to packed houses throughout the UK and the USA and the range and sophistication of his music has grown over the years so that he now stands head and shoulders above his contemporaries.

In his early years, Martin made his name as an accompanist and as a session musician. Read the sleeve notes of any folk album of the last quarter of the 20th century and you are highly likely to find his name. His partnership with the great June Tabor is still held in the highest regard.

Martin is one of the great guitarists of recent decades and he is acknowledged as a major influence on young musicians. In recent years, Martin has developed his repertoire to include many of his own songs and arrangements of traditional material. Martin has won countless BBC Folk Awards for his singing and playing and his stature in the world of acoustic music is unchallenged.
