Blank Manuskript And Hat's Off Gentlemen It's Adequate Event Title Pic

Description

Blank Manuskript are an art rock project from Salzburg, Austria. They are usually described as Progressive Rock with a certain focus towards contemporary rock, characterized by sophisticated symphonic arrangements as well as extensive psychedelic improvisations, and are known for their exotic costumes on stage and their almost theatre-like performances. Socio-critical escapism unites with creative excellence, creating contemporary programmatic rock for both insiders and seekers, far beyond the banal inhumanity of the media-machine.

Fresh from their appearance at the HRH Prog festival at the Shepherd's Bush Empire, a chance to see Hats Off Gentlemen It's Adequate in an intimate venue. An intriguing blend of progressive rock, classic rock, contemporary classical, funk, metal, folk and electronica, comprising multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, producer Malcolm Galloway and bass guitarist/keyboard player/co-producer/backing vocalist Mark Gatland, in recordings and some live events they are joined by classical flautist Kathryn Thomas.

Tom Slatter is a singer-songwriter from London who plays 'brilliant... acoustic prog-rock'. What would it sound like if Nick Cave started writing songs with Genesis after watching too many episodes of Dr Who? How many songs about replacing your body parts with mechanical alternatives is too many? Does the world need a steampunk/scifi inspired prog rock act? Tom Slatter set out to answer none of these questions, but accidentally did. Described by the Steampunk Tribune as, 'an experiment too far', Tom's music sits somewhere between folk singer-songwriter, prog rock and indie rock of the Radiohead and Mansun ilk.
