Me and My Friends have defined their music as "the sound of English folk colliding head-on with the golden-era music of 1970s West Africa and the Caribbean." Having now released 3 LPs on top global beats label Soundway, the London based quintet has an inimitable sound taking audiences through many dance music styles such as vintage Ghanaian highlife, Jamaican roots and Afro-Brazilian folk, incorporating the uncommon instrumentation of clarinet and cello.
Solid songwriting with the elegant voice and finger picked West African guitar of band leader NIck Rasle sits inside stunning vocal harmonies. This is underpinned by a rhythm section carrying a deeply infectious groove. The result is sun-drenched euphoric music for both the brain and body that is timeless and instantly recognisable. A sound that has seen the band headline top UK and European festivals and club stages and gain an army of discerning fans at home and abroad.
Unusual instrumental forces create a sublime fusion that combines pastoral dreaminess with the heat of reggae, highlife and Afrobeat sounds
