VISIT:KELHAM ISLAND MUSEUM
Arkwright Society Off Site Visit
Meet at the museum at 10.30am
Located in one of Sheffield's oldest industrial districts, Kelham Island Museum stands on a man-made island over 900 years old. It was opened in 1982 to house the objects, pictures and archive material representing Sheffield's industrial story.
Today, most of Sheffield Industrial Museums Trust collections are based there. From iron and steel to transport, tools and brewing. There's lots to see and find out about!
Specially organised for us is a talk by Chris Keady, Acting Museum Manager. Find out about the history of the museum, challenges faced and the day- to-day running of the museum. Then explore the museum and its many galleries at your leisure, not forgetting to see the mighty River Don engine in steam at 1pm!
Cost: £10 - includes museum entrance and talk by Chris Keady.
