Our first show of the 20s and what a hum-dinger we have a Spring Swing Thing of epic proportion!
Only one musical act for this show... the 17 piece (yes that number is correct!) Brighton Big Band led by pianist, composer and of course band leader extraordinaire - Mr John Lake.
The Brighton Big Band was formed in 1986 (originally as the Dave Masters Big Band) and has continued to perform big band swing throughout that time playing the classic tunes of the Big Band Era from the 1940's more recent material. They regularly play at venues along the South Coast, here's a rare chance to see them with ample room to dance as well!
In addition to the excellent musicians, we are thrilled and delighted to have scooped singers Dave Williams and Jackie Sampson who will be performing solos and duets. Both are much sought after vocalists and expert exponents of a fine swing lyric!

John Lake is a Brighton based pianist, composer of jazz and leader of his own small band playing jazz originals recorded on the CDs "Up on the Downs" and "Wave of Translation" and modern jazz classics as well leader of the Brighton Big Band. He and his band have regularly performed at the Victoria Bar in the Brighton Grand Hotel since 2012.
And still we bring you more... More dancing to swing and jazz classics played by Andy the Dandy DJ when there are no acts on stage... More fun from our interval acts as members of the swing dance community perform some a specially crafted routines for you to watch while enjoying a drink and catching your breaths.
All this against the back drop of the beautiful glass domed dance-hall'esque room where we have been hosting our shows since February 2019.
The Swing Set Sunday Showcase is so much more than a gig - it's a proper show - a whole afternoon of great entertainment, in our own air conditioned private room, with plenty of seating and plenty of dancing space.
A bigger show means more participants and as you all know, we fund these by dancers for dancers events with the entrance fee. As such the admission price for this Sunday stays at £15 so we can pay all the performers taking part in the show. That's a bargain for a big band!
Don't forget - we have negotiated 15% off all house wines and with beers around the £5 mark, that means, despite the four star setting that it's no more pricey than any other city centre pub
