Genre : Music - Folk/blues/world

Description

Eilidh Steel & Mark Neal (fiddle, guitar, song) are unique in that they almost exclusively perform old traditional music and song from the rich musical heritage of Argyll and the West Coast of Scotland alongside their own compositions and songs. Their playing shows great respect for the melodies and oozes empathy, whether they are playing heart breaking airs, flying into driving reels or creating imaginative soundscapes with their rich harmonies.
Both highly respected musicians in their own right, they keep extremely busy touring as well as with their composing, research and recording work.

In addition to playing, Eilidh and Mark are both experienced tutors, and are available for workshops and master classes in single instrument or mixed instrument settings.

Eilidh Steel is from Helensburgh, Argyllshire where she started playing fiddle at the age of six. She was awarded the Sir Jimmy Shand Scholarship to study a BA Honours degree in Scottish Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow.
Since graduating she has worked as a full time musician, composer and tutor. Eilidh is a respected tunesmith and her compositions are being performed and recorded by many artists throughout the world.
For 8 years, on the side of performing, Eilidh was the Artistic Director of the Scots Fiddle Festival, which is one of Scotland's biggest traditional music festivals.
