Description

'Writes vivid songs with killer tunes and sings them with scary conviction' (The Times).

The Oxted Sessions are delighted to welcome Jesse Malin this June.

A native New York City singer-songwriter, emerging from a punk and rock & roll background, Jesse Malin has played and toured since the age of 12. He is a streetwise storyteller, whose characters and slice of life lyrics portray a world of unsung heroes, helpless romantics and rock & roll survivors. Comparisons are often made to artists such as Neil Young, Lou Reed, Paul Westerberg, Joe Strummer & Bruce Springsteen (whom Malin has collaborated with in the past, both in the studio and on stage).

Malin's eighth solo LP 'Sunset Kids' was released in August 2019, and gained 4 star reviews from Uncut, Rolling Stone, American Songwriter & Classic Rock Magazine. The album was produced by legendary American songwriter Lucinda Williams, who also co-wrote and performed on three songs of the album and performed on some of the album, while Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong was another collaborator, on the song 'Strangers & Thieves'.

Support comes from the marvellous Moonshine & Molly!

Moonshine & Molly are Oxted based, acoustic blues/rock duo, Martin and Mariam Mickels. They started performing together after they met in 2010, and some years later Moonshine & Molly was born out of their mutual love for Heart, Alannah Myles and Whitesnake. In 2014 they wrote and recorded their originals album 'Timeline' from their Central Oxted flat and performed the full album in sequence live to a packed audience.

Martin has performed as a guitarist around the world with bands such as The Sweet, Michael Schenker Group and Statetrooper, and currently plays with local rock heroes Randy & The Rockets.

Mariam started out as a Cabaret singer on the London Burlesque scene performing at iconic venues such as Madame Jo Jo's and the Battersea Barge. She currently makes up one third of vintage trio The Whiskey Sours, who perform regularly together throughout the UK.

This is a rare chance to see Moonshine & Molly perform a set of their original material!
