Wadsworth Community Centre and BGR Events are collaborating to raise money for those who have suffered due to the Floods in the Calder Valley.
Join us for a great evening of acoustic music with a group of talented and varied musicians - and raise money for a very good cause.
Iona Lane - graduate of Leeds College of Music, a young, upcoming folk singer and musician, whose emotive and well-crafted songs are delivered with immense passion, and an understanding beyond her years for the stories she is telling.
Sarah Smout - celebrated cellist who hails from Yorkshire. She has toured internationally with acts including Michael Chapman, Bridget St. John, King Creosote, and Jess Morgan. Her session work has also appeared on dozens of critically acclaimed albums in the folk, acoustic, and singer-songwriter scenes. Most recently she has joined forces with all female band The Magpies, a Celtic-bluegrass fusion. Sarah will be performing music and songs including material from her solo show, 'Eyjar'
Steve Pledger - award winning recording artist with an enviable reputation as a talented and dynamic performer. With writing that ranges from fragile reflections on love and loss to blistering commentaries on present circumstances, his songs pack an emotional punch both on record and on stage. His third album 'Somewhere Between' won both FATEA Album Of The Year Award and Folkwords' Album Of The Year by a Male Artist.
Becky Taylor's Atlas Bridge complete the line up. We had wonderful feedback from last year's Wadsworth booking of Becky Taylor, Uilleann Piper & Multi-instrumentalist, and guitarist Steve Lacey. Now we have Becky and Steve playing Wadsworth in her new band Atlas Bridge This brand new acoustic 3-piece Atlas Bridge bring together the tuneful talents of Becky, with sensitive, honest vocals and melodic 5-string banjo from Madeline Smyth underpinned with inventive and energetic accompaniments from Steve who also adds a song or two to the mix.
All proceeds from this benefit gig will be donated to Community Foundation Fund for Calderdale 2020 Flood Appeal.
Usual local real ale and pie and peas available. Also there will be a CD /merch fundraising stall and a raffle with one or two prizes well worth winning.
